The Charlotte Post Foundation’s Top Senior Program is gearing up for the 2026–27 school year, and we’re excited to welcome another class of exceptional students. We congratulate every senior in Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools for staying focused and reaching the final stretch of your high school journey. This achievement is significant—and it’s only the beginning. Senior year is the perfect time to strengthen your GPA, build strong habits, and prepare for life after graduation.
To support that transition, the Charlotte Post Foundation will award two scholarships to the students our judges select as the Top Senior and Top Senior Runner‑Up in CMS. We will update this page once the exact scholarship amounts are finalized. These awards were created to recognize high‑achieving African American students and help ease the transition into post‑secondary life.
Student Eligibility Requirements

Must be African American

Must have a 3.25 or higher cumulative weighted GPA

Must attend a Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools high school
The portal for 2026–27 Top Senior submissions opens soon. This page will be updated with the application link once it is active.
What Do Students Need to Submit?
Students must complete the online application and submit the required essay. The essay is a critical part of the judging process, along with extracurricular involvement and GPA. Students should also provide the Top Senior Parent Letter to their parent(s)/guardian(s) so families can stay informed throughout the campaign.
Please ensure all information submitted is accurate. We may need to contact students for updated photos or additional details.
What Should Parents Expect?
The Charlotte Post Foundation is proud to honor outstanding African American scholars within Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools. After the submission deadline, Foundation staff will reach out using the contact information provided to invite families to participate in the Top Senior Magazine and attend the Top Senior Recognition Ceremony.
To help families learn more, we will host a virtual information session via Zoom for parents and students. This session will introduce the Charlotte Post Foundation, explain the Top Senior Program, and highlight its positive impact across the community.
